Why I'm Running

One of the most foundational principles of American representative democracy is that voters should have a choice in who their representatives are. As a fervent supporter of our democracy, that is the main reason I am running: to give voters a choice.

Being able to identify when government is not working is not difficult. Virginians across the Greater Richmond area experience it on a daily basis with the increase in violent crime, rising utility rates, and a failure to fully support the education of our next generation of leaders.

Just like you, I have watched over the last few years as career politicians in Washington create more problems while continuously failing to offer reasonable solutions.

I’m exhausted by the divisiveness and stagnation plaguing Washington. Unfortunately, this gridlock is trickling down to Richmond.

I have spent decades building complex solutions and working with people from all walks of life. My experiences both in and out of government have taught me there is a lot more that unites us than divides us. And, that is what I want to focus on.

In the Senate, my primary focus will be on fixing problems to improve the day-to-day lives of Virginians across the Commonwealth and finding real, attainable solutions to the many challenges facing our communities.

So, I thought I’d try something very different from your typical politician. As your representative, I will listen to you and learn from you what issues you are most concerned about and how I can help solve those challenges for you.

That is why I am running. To represent you and your values. I hope I can count on your vote in the Special Election on March 28, 2023.
